Call for Papers - Pròdìgi, issue 1

Pròdìgi (digital products) is the new international, peer-reviewed journal published by the Department of Classical Philology and Italian Studies, University of Bologna. Dedicated to the valorisation of research outputs at the intersection of the Humanities and Digital Humanities, Pròdìgi offers a rigorous venue for showcasing innovative digital scholarship in the cultural heritage domain.

Since the inaugural issue, we invite submissions centred on digital libraries, digital editions, virtual exhibitions, learning objects, software solutions, and related digital products. We welcome contributions that demonstrate how computational methods and digital tools are reshaping humanities research, with particular emphasis on methodological innovation, original contribution to the field, and broader societal impact.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Virtual exhibitions — immersive digital spaces for presenting artworks, thematic narratives, and collections;
  • Digital didactic projects — initiatives supporting teaching, learning, and public engagement with cultural heritage;
  • Software and applications — resources enabling humanities research and the enhancement of cultural heritage;
  • Digital editions — scholarly publications and textual resources in advanced digital formats;
  • Other digital artefacts — text corpora, online resource catalogues, digitised collections, web applications (thematic paths, research interfaces, data visualisation tools), and multimedia objects.

Types of Contributions

  • Data Papers (up to 5,000 words, excluding references) Full scholarly articles presenting original theoretical, methodological, or experimental research, supported by comprehensive bibliographies. The primary subject of a Data Paper is an existing digital research object — publicly available online and identified via a persistent identifier (e.g. a DOI) — which serves as the carrier of innovative research and/or computational methods. Submissions undergo single-blind peer review.
  • Data Summaries (up to 1,000 words) Structured bibliographic descriptions of online digital research objects. A Data Summary comprises metadata, a concise description, and bibliographic references pertaining to an online resource for which the author holds direct responsibility. Metadata are evaluated by the Scientific Committee and are not subject to peer review.

Submission deadline: 24 July 2026. Publication expected: late 2026.

Submissions can be in Italian or English. Please submit your work via the journal system, following author guidelines and using our templates.
